This page contains two versions of the reconstructed pECE sequence. The sequences are the reverse complements of each other and the starting and ending coordinates are shifted by 232 nt relative to each other.

- the numbering of this sequence is the same as in the original
reference (Ellis, L., et al. Cell 45 (1986):721-32)
- the sequence is consistent with experimental restriction mapping of pECE
- this sequence apparently contains 6 extra nucleotides relative to
the original plasmid, in the region between coordinates 432 and
696. This was determined by comparing the coordinates of the SphI and 
AflIII restriction sites. It is not possible to determine the exact 
difference because the sequence of the original plasmid was not published.

"The pECE sequence in your database is the wrong size (should be ~2.9kb). 
I pieced together a sequence myself from pBR322 and SV40 as described in 
the original paper (Ellis, et al., Cell 1986) and it seems to check out 
OK.  I do appreciate your web site, though, it's a GREAT service!  Here's
