CC   The deletion of the two 'at'-rich blocks from the E.coli trp
CC   promoter resulted in decreased promoter strength.  By replacing
CC   these 'at'-rich blocks with one or two large 'at'-rich blocks from
CC   the major leftward lambda promoter (p-L), modified trp promoters
CC   (letI, with one, or letII with two 'at'-rich blocks) were found to
CC   be several times more effective than the wild-type trp promoter.
CC   The letI promoter can be repressed by the trp repressor and the
CC   lambda repressor.  A -35-like sequence is located at positions
CC   160-172.
