Promoter sequences of 148 genes repressed in the ESR, including genes involved in protein synthesis, RNA processing, and nucleotide and folate metabolism, were analyzed using the MEME algorithm (Bailey and Elkan, 1994) to identify common promoter elements. Two sites common to the promoters of most of these genes were identified within 800 bp upstream of each open reading frame. Site B is similar to a site identified by Hughes, et al. (2000) in genes invovlved in RNA processing. View the original MEME output files.
