Many encoded protein kinases are autoregulated at the level of gene
expression. Thus, the induction of an encoded signaling factor
suggests the activity of the pathway it participates in, and also
implicates the genes that it clusters with as targets of the
pathway. Thus, the expression of genes that cluster with the MAP
kinase SLT2 may be affected by activity of this pathway. The
functions of many of the genes in this cluster are related to ER
protein folding, secretion through the ER, and the structure of the cell
wall. Previously-identified targets of
the PKC pathway are indicated in purple (Jung and Levin, 1999; Mattison et al., 1999).
